Glamorous pilots gather to the Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace. 03/11/2010

Glamorous Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace  ;

On March 6th and 7th, the Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace (Air & Space Museum) - Le Bourget - France, celebrated all women flying with the forces, Gendarmerie, Police and Sécurité Civile. People were impressed with Gendarmerie and Sécurité Civile EC-145s helicopters landing just in front of them on Saturday 6th, with also one Fennec helicopter and one Casa CN 235 from the French Air Force in the meantime. One of the real stars of the day was Capitaine Marie Macke parking a Mirage 2000-5 from Creil Air Base (North of Paris). Both Mirage 2000-5 jets from that "Permanence opérationnelle" tiny Squadron are tasked with intruders interception and with assistance to civilian airplanes in all situations. They may be scrambled at any time.

10 years ago the fighter pilot job was not opened to girls. Today, 11 women are flying jets with the french air force, while 344 more women fly cargo airplanes or helicopters with the forces. Late  Caroline Aigle was the very first lady to fly jetfighters in the french air force : two years ago, one hall in the Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace was named after her during the same event /
